Argus Filch

The castle’s long-serving caretaker. A grumpy, perpetually grumbling and swearing old man who can’t stand the students because they’re always trying to pull some prank or make a mess, which he then has to clean up. The situation is made worse by the fact that Filch is a Squib, so he has to clean up with his bare hands what the students create with magic. He longs for the “good old days” when students could be “chained up” and “hung by their fingers” for the slightest offense. He zealously guards and maintains his tools in perfect condition, hoping that someday - perhaps after a change in leadership - those glorious days will return. He keeps a cat named Mrs. Norris, whom he treats better than he does people.
